Bitso’s Migration to Native DYDX

DYDX ENG

As part of our commitment to offering cutting-edge and secure blockchain infrastructure, Bitso is excited to announce the migration of DYDX (ethDYDX) from Ethereum to its own native blockchain: the dYdX Chain.

This move represents a significant upgrade to the dYdX ecosystem, offering users more control, improved performance, and greater utility. The best part? You don’t need to do a thing—Bitso will handle the migration for you.

Migration Timeline

⏰ June 5, 2025, 10:00 AM (Mexico City Time)
The following services will be temporarily paused in order to execute DYDX’s full migration:

  • Deposits
  • Withdrawals
  • Trading
  • Conversions

Note: Limit orders will be re-enabled on June 5th at 14:00 (Mexico City Time)

✅ June 10, 2025, 15:00 (Mexico City Time)
Migration will be complete.
Native DYDX tokens will now be available and Bitso will resume all DYDX related services on the dYdX Chain:

  • Deposits
  • Withdrawals
  • Trading
  • Conversions

Why Is This Migration Important?

The dYdX Chain is a fully decentralized, high-performance Layer 1 blockchain built using the Cosmos SDK. It was designed specifically for perpetuals trading and governance.

Here’s what makes the upgrade meaningful:

  • Better Security: Native staking reduces risks from intermediary smart contracts.
  • Scalability: Built for speed and parallel processing.
  • Full On-Chain Governance: DYDX holders can directly influence the future of the protocol.
  • 100% Fee Redistribution: All protocol fees go to validators and delegators.

In short, the move brings dYdX closer to its long-term vision of complete decentralization.

What Does This Mean for You as a Bitso User?

You don’t have to bridge tokens or move anything manually. Bitso will take care of the entire migration, converting all your DYDX tokens previously held on the Ethereum network (ethDYDX) to native DYDX at a 1:1 ratio. Your updated DYDX balance will appear automatically in your account, once the migration is finalized.

It’s very important that you do not send DYDX on the Ethereum network (ethDYDX) to your Bitso wallet after June 5. These tokens will no longer be supported and will be permanently lost if deposited. Make sure to wait until deposits reopen, and confirm that you’re using the new dYdX Chain.

A Quick Example

Let’s say you deposited 50 DYDX (ethDYDX) to your Bitso wallet before June 5. By June 10, your 50 tokens will automatically appear as native DYDX on the dYdX Chain in your Bitso wallet, ready to use.

Now let’s say that, on June 11, a friend tries to send you 50 DYDX (ethDYDX) through the Ethereum network to your Bitso account. Unfortunately, those tokens will be permanently lost. Bitso will no longer support DYDX on Ethereum after the migration. That’s why it’s critical to confirm that you’re using the dYdX Chain before making any deposits starting June 10.

⚠️ A Word of Caution: Interacting with the dYdX dApp

We want to raise awareness about a potential risk when using the dYdX web application (dApp).

If you select “Remember Me” while connecting to dYdX v4, the dApp may store a private key in your browser cache. If your device is compromised, malware could potentially use that key to perform unauthorized trades on your behalf.

This risk does not affect your Bitso wallet or account, but we strongly encourage caution when using external wallets or browsers to access the dYdX dApp. We’ll keep monitoring this and will update our recommendations if anything changes.
